The Answer

Installation of stainless steel remedial ties, normally Grade 316 stainless, together with isolation or removal of theexisting ties is quicker and more cost effective with less disturbance than taking down the outer leaf and rebuilding which, until recently, was the normal course of action. There are many types of remedial ties suitable for various situations i.e. soft brick, dense brick, hollow block etc. We can only recommend the most suitable tie for each installation following a detailed survey inspection of a property. Inspection of the existing tie is normally carried out by inserting a checkscope into the cavity through a small hole.
